"RoY d’Espagne" Inn

Ancienne auberge du Roy d'Espagne

Not open for visits

AdDress : rue de Bruxelles 58 – 1470 Genappe

The Roy d’Espagne Inn is known for having seen the future king, Louis XVIII, stop off in 1792 and for having hosted the Duke of Wellington and Prince Jérôme Bonaparte. The French general Duhesme passed away here on the 20th of June, two days after the battle of Waterloo.

It is in this inn that Blücher received Napoleon’s sword, spyglass, decorations and hat. He left the inn in Napoleon’s carriage.
